Who we are and what we do

The Council of Motoring Clubs of WA (Inc.) is an incorporated body having the following objects:

  • To foster the responsible enjoyment of motor vehicles by motoring enthusiasts.
  • To encourage the affiliation and closer relationship of Motoring Clubs in Western Australia.
  • To promote events in which Members can participate.
  • To represent the common interests of Members in dealings with elected members of Parliament, regulatory bodies, companies, organisations or individuals.
  • To assist Member Clubs in their provision of appropriate Insurance Cover.
  • To disseminate and share information of interest to and assist with the provision of services that may be of benefit to Members.
  • To further promote the objects of the Council as detailed above there shall, where required, be constituted "Special Interest" sections of the Council.

The Council is a representative and advisory body and has no remit or authority to direct or control its member clubs.

Membership

Membership of the Council is open to motoring clubs incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 whose constitution is consistent with the Council’s objects.

All member clubs are entitled to a maximum of two delegates per club with only one vote per club. Delegates may not represent more than two member clubs at any one time.

The Council’s management committee, elected from and by member club delegates, is responsible for managing the Council’s affairs. The Council has no paid staff and all committee, subcommittee and subsidiary office positions are voluntary.

General Meetings

The Council’s General Meetings are held every two (‘even’) months, usually at the Alf Faulkner Hall at the corner of Mary Crescent and Ivanhoe Street in Eden Hill,
on the 3rd Monday at 8.00pm.  Member clubs are represented at General Meetings by their nominated Club Delegate/s.

Concessional vehicle licencing

Concessional vehicle licencing is available to motoring clubs approved by the Department of Transport in the following schemes:

a) for unmodified vehicles over 25 years of age under the Veteran, Vintage, Post Vintage and Invitational (‘Code 404’) Scheme; or

b) for vehicles built prior to 1990 and street rods under the Concession for Classics (‘C4C’) Scheme.

The Code 404 Information Handbook (downloadable from this website) and the C4C Code of Conduct (downloadable from the Department of Transport website) detail the terms and vehicle use conditions for these Schemes respectively.  The Council (and its predecessor the Combined Car Clubs of WA) has worked with the Department of Transport over many years to develop, review and revise the Code 404 Handbook and continues to do so on behalf of all approved motoring clubs.

Classic Car Show

The Council presents the annual Classic Car Show which showcases WA’s great variety and number of historic and classic vehicles and which provides an opportunity for the public to appreciate our motoring heritage.
